For those of you who are living and working in the Greater Toronto Area, odds are you have a sizeable commute. To get to an office in downtown Toronto from your residential Markham real estate can take several hours in rush hour traffic. These are essentially wasted hours that you could have been spending with family or friends or catching up on your sleep. Most people want to reduce their commute times as much as humanely possible, and one way to do that is to make use of the carpool or HOV lanes that are provided on the highways and on larger Toronto streets.

Carpool and HOV (which stands for High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes are special lanes on the road where only vehicles with a certain number of passengers are allowed to drive. Because many people drive to work alone, they're forced to wait in long traffic lines while the members of Home Health Care Ontario who have decided to go to work together whiz by in the next lane, which has far fewer vehicles. Thus the carpoolers spend less time on the road to work than the average person.

Carpool and High Occupancy Vehicle lanes were built to encourage more people to leave their cars at home, which reduces the amount of traffic congestion in the city. They were also built to allow buses, which carry many people and run on a very tight schedule, to be able to meet their commitments and pull over for passengers without causing a pileup larger than most homes in Pickering real estate. This is why the carpool and high occupancy vehicle lane is usually the outermost.

In Toronto, bus and carpool lanes are separate. The carpool lane is usually the innermost lane nearest the median and is separated from the rest of the highway by a margin that is occasionally broken to allow vehicles in and out. You can identify the carpool lane by the diamond shaped emblazoned on the roadway. Use of HOV and carpool lanes is one of the lessons taught by driving schools in Toronto but is not included in driving instruction in other cities, because only the largest cities have HOV lanes.

If you would like to use the carpool lane to help you get to work faster, you must pick up at least one co-worker on your way, because high-occupancy vehicle lanes are restricted to cars that have at least two people in them. By carpooling, you will also be able to share driving responsibility so that the same person doesn't get a free pass to peruse the real estate listings for Markham the whole way, share gas expenses and wear and tear on cars, and reduce the amount of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere.
