If you're looking for the latest in modern home designs in Toronto's downtown area than you will definitely be interested in all of the new condo developments that are popping up from Toronto lofts to Yorkville luxury buildings. There are developments that are going green and others that are giving their residents even more when it comes to luxury and convenience. Toronto residential buildings are rising to new heights in more ways than one and there are even new features that can be added to your older condo design. Here are some of the latest news stories regarding condos in the Greater Toronto Area.

At the end of April, ground broke on what will be the tallest residential building in Toronto, the Aura condominiums. This structure will be seventy-five floors and is located at College and Yonge. The building is designed using glass and steel as the main materials and has will have more residential space in its 931 units than even the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. While there is still some space to build out instead of up around places like Oakville condos, Toronto is now seeing that they are in need of taller complexes. Aura is not the only building currently in construction that will soar above the skyline. The Ice Condos along the waterfront, the Shangri-La Condos and Hotel on University Avenue and L Tower on the Esplanade will all be have buildings over sixty stories.

With the Pan American Games coming to Toronto in 2015, city builders are proposing that the Athlete's Village that will house over eight thousand athletes, coaches and officials be built in a way that it can be transformed into 2,100 housing units when the games have ended. In an effort to create more alternative housing in the Toronto area, some of the units will be condos, while others are meant as affordable housing and student housing. With many people refinancing Toronto homes, this is a great way to get newer complexes without huge price tags.

If anyone is in doubt that condos are still extremely sought after commodities in the GTA, they need only look at the new One Bloor complex. Sales are not even yet officially open for the building and already seventy percent of the 616 available units are sold. This building will be located right on the corner of Yonge and Bloor and will be a multi-purpose centre, which will include commercial space on top of the residential units. If you are looking into a Sutton mortgage for this building, units are priced at around $800 per square foot.

Condos throughout Toronto are even adding incentives to new buyers. Some are offering a Metropass to all those that live in the building, while others are adding features that would regularly be associated with high-end hotels. Whether you're looking at downtown Toronto or Mississauga real estate listings you are sure to be in for some surprises when it comes to new condo developments.
