There are a lot of advantages that come with living in a big city. If you are single, or a wandering spouse, then there is no end to the number of potential partners you can meet up with. There are plenty of entertainment options from top tier sports events to live theatre. A spa in Edmonton or Toronto is guaranteed to have better accoutrements than one in a smaller Canadian city, and to be on the cutting edge of treatment options as well. And then of course there is the local economy; big cities take on critical mass and tend to have robust job markets even in recessions.

However, there are certain drawbacks to living in a big city, and they tend to be emphasized more the bigger the city is. Crime is one such concern, as is the price of real estate. Nothing can prove to be more frustrating about a big city, however, than traffic. Big city traffic such as that found in Toronto has landed plenty of people in online couples therapy or in anger management, as they deal with the frustrations of other drivers at least twice a day, in and out of work and around town.

The problem with bad traffic is that it simply can't be avoided. You can get a lower price on real estate and still take advantage of Toronto jobs by buying Markham homes for sale, but that just increases the problem of traffic. Buying in the suburbs actually means that you have to put up with more traffic on a daily basis than you would if you actually lived in the city itself. Factor in not only the emotional toll but the wear and tear on your vehicle and the hideous price of gas and you have to wonder if it is worth it.

In fact, that is the question many people ask themselves every day, stuck in Toronto traffic on the way to or from work. As you watch the red lights blink on and then off in front of you, as you hear the sounds of a sheet metal brake sliding on the tractor trailer's load, you have to question your sanity. Why on Earth did you move to the big city in the first place? Some people actually spend more time in their cars in a week than they do with their families, that is how bad traffic can get.

So what are your options? Well, you don't have to contend with traffic yourself every day. There are plenty of public transportation options available in Toronto and other big cities, options which have never been subject to Canadian class action. It's just one way to avoid the headaches of Toronto traffic while taking advantage of Toronto's high points.
